The Nearly Wilde Show

Aberdeen are closing in on Gregg Wilde as fellow suitors Motherwell, Hibs and Carlisle seem to be out of the running for the winger's signature.

Aberdeen are now favourites to capture the former oldRangers player with new Dons manager Derek McInnes set to hammer out terms with the 22-year-old this week.

Wylde left English Championship club Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season and despite new interest from French club Nantes and idle speculation about a switch to former Bolton boss Owen Coyle's new club Wigan, Pittodrie is now thought to be his most likely destination.

Wilde said last week: "Aberdeen have approached me about moving there and I have to admit it offers a massive opportunity.

"Aberdeen is a huge club with a great history and strong fanbase."
