Teenage kicks impress Langfield

The Pittodrie side had conceded 11 goals in their opening three European and domestic matches of the season, but hit their stride and were worthy winners in Saturday's SPL clash at New Douglas Park. Charlie Mulgrew opened the scoring with a well-struck free-kick and set up the second for Andrew Considine before half-time, while Chris Maguire sealed the three points with a superb volley just after the hour. The back four in front of Langfield included 19-year-old Jonathan Crawford, making his first start for the visitors, as was 16-year-old Fraser Fyvie. Langfield said: "This was a lot better from us - we came here and put on a performance, and I think that right from the start, we got at them. "It's been a hectic few weeks for me. I wouldn't say I've been playing too badly but when a goalkeeper is losing goals, people think it might affect your confidence. "I just have to get out there and to end up getting a clean sheet is great for me and the boys in front of me. "Fraser and Jonathan were absolutely brilliant and I don't think you'll see a better debut from two teenagers - I felt like a granddad out there beside them but it's great that they've come in and done so well. "I think people are starting to see what Mark McGhee has brought to us and hopefully now we can keep it up in the league. "We play a bit more football and are a bit more attacking under him. We had a lot of shots on target, made numerous chances and could even have had a few more goals, but to win 3-0 at a difficult place like Hamilton is a great result." New Hamilton signing David Louhoungou made his second appearance from the bench when he was introduced at the interval. Accies are still without a point or even a goal after two SPL matches and face a daunting trip to Ibrox on Saturday, but the midfielder believes that the Lanarkshire side's fortunes will soon change, especially when they can welcome key men such as their captain and vice-captain back from injury and suspension. He said: "We have a very good team and can be better in the future, especially when we have those very good players back - Alex Neil organises the team very well and James McArthur is very good technically, and we need players like them. "It was good for me to play my first game at home. At the moment we have some problems in talking with each other [on the pitch] and we need time to improve, but we can do that during the week in training and everything will be OK for us. "I like to work hard for my team in the middle of the park, to take good passes and put them through to the strikers to score, and that's why I'm here. "Aberdeen were a very good team with good players. This is my first time in Scotland and I know that playing Rangers is a difficult game for us, but it's just the start of the season and everything's possible. We just have to be patient."
