Midfielder Scott Severin is hoping to make his return from a broken foot when Aberdeen face Inverness Caledonian Thistle on New Year's Eve.
The Scotland international has been on the sidelines since the CIS Cup defeat at Motherwell on November 8 and Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood is looking forward to seeing him back in action.
Calderwood told the Evening Express: "Scott started running in training on Monday.
"It is just a case of trying to build up his fitness again."
The Dons have also been without Michael Hart and Steve Lovell in recent weeks, but neither will be available to face Livingston on Saturday.
"Michael still has a long way to go and, of the three, Steve will probably be back first," added Calderwood.
