The 40-year-old left Chesterfield this month after the club missed out on the League Two play-offs. Richardson played for the Dons for two years between 1992-94 while current director of football Willie Miller was manager. Richardson said: "My CV is on its way to Aberdeen and they should receive it in the next couple of days. "I am sure there will be a lot of applications for the job as it's a great one. "I can confirm I'd like to speak to Aberdeen but it's up to Willie Miller or the chairman." Motherwell manager Mark McGhee, Wigan coach Eric Black and Falkirk boss John Hughes are reportedly among the favourites to succeed Jimmy Calderwood, whose five-year spell in charge of Aberdeen ended on Sunday.
