Paterson verdict boosts Dons

Aberdeen defender Jim Paterson is expected to be back in action before the end of the season, after an Achilles tendon injury proved not to be as serious as was first feared.

The 30-year-old loanee was injured in the 2-2 weekend draw with Dundee United, but subsequent scans have revealed no major damage.

Dons boss Mark McGhee told the Evening Express: "Scans have shown there is no tear in the tendon, which is a relief.

"It's still likely to be two or three weeks before Jim is able to train."

Paterson is currently on loan at Pittodrie from Plymouth Argyle and has made nine appearances for the Dons to date.
