Stevie Crawford's agent claims that Aberdeen have not made an approach to sign the Dunfermline Athletic striker.
The 30-year-old Scotland international can leave East End Park on a free transfer and it had been reported that former Pars boss Jimmy Calderwood was keen to take him to Pittodrie.
However, Bill McMurdo told BBC Sport: "Obviously, Jimmy is aware of Stevie's capabilities.
"I've spoken to Jimmy a couple of times this week about different subjects and Stevie's name hasn't come up but we'll wait and see what develops."
If Calderwood does decide to make a move for Crawford, he faces stiff competition for his signature.
McMurdo added: "We've got two English first division clubs who are very keen on Stevie.
"And Dunfermline have made it clear they want to keep him, so, hopefully, we'll sort something out soon."
