The Red Revolution is not just well underway on the pitch - Aberdeen's big move to a state-of-the-art development enters its next stage. ABERDEEN FC has lodged the planning application for its new home - and revealed some fascinating details about the proposed stadium. The stadium, set to be built at Loirston Loch at the south of Aberdeen, is now tantalisingly close to becoming a tangible reality, and the pictures revealed today will surely whet Dons supporters' appetites. The 21,000-seater UEFA Category 3 ground is designed to create the best and therefore most intimidating atmosphere, with a fully-enclosed bowl design and steeply-elevated stands positioned close to the pitch at the heart of the development. The pitch itself will be larger than that at Pittodrie, allowing the club to earn extra revenue by hosting other sporting events and concerts. Biggest news for Aberdeen-Mad regulars is the inclusion of a supporters' bar which will overlook the fans walkway - but the club refuses to confirm or deny whether they will be stocking a generous selection of Weissbiers. Instead, new AFC CEO Duncan Fraser told RedWeb: "After much hard work and consultation, we are delighted to submit a planning application for a stadium that will inspire our fans and the wider community and be a major new attraction for Aberdeen City and Shire. "Loirston Loch was identified as the optimum site for this major regional facility and our goal is to deliver a stadium that will make our supporters proud. "The exciting design will create a modern, atmospheric stadium that offers the ultimate match-day experience and signifies the clear ambitions of the club."
