Miller Tells Aberdeen To Appoint New Boss Now

Dons legend Willie Miller has appealed to the club to bring in a new manager while there is still something to play for this season.

Decorated former Aberdeen captain, manager and director of football Miller believes that the club should utilise the international break to hold interviews and appoint Craig Brown's successor.

Brown has announced he will retire at the end of the current campaign, but he added that he will step aside earlier if AFC want to bring in his replacement earlier.

And with the club's top six ambitions hanging by a thread after an appalling run of results in 2013, Miller thinks the club should act now to save the Reds' season.

He said: "The directors must do all they can now to ensure the new manager is in place before the next game.

"Now that it has been confirmed Craig is resigning, any delay is unnecessary. The next manager needs to be at the helm now.

"Making a decision right now is the best way forward for the club. This would give the new man time to assess the players and decide if they will be part of his plans.

"If the man they want is out of work there is nothing to stop getting a deal done quickly. If he’s at another club, it’s more complicated.

"But the directors cannot afford to hang about. They must look to the future.
