McInnes' misery at late penalty woe

The Saints had come back from a goal down to equalise through Liam Craig before Lee Miller won a penalty in the 83rd minute following a collision with defender Danny Grainger.[LNB]The Dons striker netted from the spot to give the Dons their first win since the middle of September - but McInnes felt his player was harshly penalised.[LNB]He said: "I felt there was definitely a foul on Danny Grainger in the build-up. Lee Miller grabbed Danny and spun him to gain an advantage in the box.[LNB]"The ball was played into the area 10 yards away from the incident and what has happened is Danny has tried to make up the ground after initially being fouled and, as he has run back, Lee has stopped and Danny has nowhere to go and it is a coming together.[LNB]"The ref has said it was a push and a pull which it clearly wasn't. He has got it wrong and the linesman should see the foul by Lee Miller."[LNB]McInnes thought referee Euan Norris may have wanted to "even things out" after failing to award a free kick to Aberdeen for a push on Jamie Langfield by Kenny Deuchar in the build-up to Liam Craig's equaliser.[LNB]"There was a feeling of that in our dressing room," McInnes admitted. "I can understand why Aberdeen were feeling aggrieved.[LNB]"You often see a foul given with those sort of challenges on the goalkeeper but I think Kenny's eyes were only on the ball.[LNB]"At 1-1 I thought we were looking the better side and we should have left here with at least a point."[LNB]Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee feels Jamie Langfield was fouled by Deuchar but believed justice was done with his side's late winner.[LNB]"I think we deserved to win," he said. "We came under pressure late in the game and it was an aerial bombardment with Deuchar up front who is a difficult player to play against.[LNB]"I think their goal was a free-kick as I felt Jamie Langfield had the ball in his hands and the collision was after he had caught the ball.[LNB]"We felt hard done by so to get the penalty, which Lee Miller says he felt was a penalty, and win the game was justice."[LNB]McGhee was pleased to see Sone Aluko cap his first start since the middle of September and his return from the under-20 World Cup in Egypt with a fine solo goal.[LNB]However the Nigeria international was substituted at half-time with a stomach injury, which McGhee hopes will not result in another lengthy absence.[LNB]McGhee explained: "We felt when Sone came back from his World Cup trip he had lost a lot of fitness and a lot of his edge and it has taken him until now to get that back.[LNB]"That goal will have done him a tremendous amount of good for his confidence as long as he recovers quickly from the injury.[LNB]"I would tend to think given his reaction to the injury that it wasn't trivial so it is a worry."[LNB][LNB]
