McGhee welcomes Aluko's return

Nigeria international Sone Aluko has handed Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee a boost after being given the all-clear to resume training.

It had been feared that an Achilles injury would keep Aluko out of action for up to three months but that now seems to have been an overly pessimistic predication.

McGhee said: "It's a welcome bit of good news for us. Sone has been told he can resume light running and build up his training programme, so, hopefully, he will be available again soon.

"He saw the same specialist who originally mentioned we could lose him for three months, so, clearly, there has been a big improvement, which is promising."
