McGhee slates beaten Dons

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee pulled no punches after his side lost 3-2 at Dundee in the third round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.

The Dons went down after extra-time at Dens Park, despite a double strike from sub Michael Paton.

McGhee said afterwards: "I'm bitterly disappointed and what it does do is leave an impression on me about certain people and about the squad and about going forward.

"I'll keep those thoughts to myself, but moments like this could be defining moments and certainly in some ways it is for me.

"One thing I've not got suckered into in the last few weeks has been people talking to me about us keeping four clean sheets.

"Suddenly we hadn't become a great defensive team. I always thought we were in danger of losing goals, even in those games."
