McGhee vows to stand by approach

Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee will not be "embarrassed" into using a more attacking formation against Rangers on Sunday.[LNB] McGhee fielded five natural centre-backs at Motherwell last weekend after being inspired by Rangers' tactics in the Champions League at Manchester United.[LNB]McGhee will not hesitate to use those same tactics again in the SPL clash at Pittodrie on Sunday.[LNB]"Rangers have scored 11 goals in two games so we have got to find a way of stopping them," McGhee said.[LNB]"If that means an extra defender we will put one there and we won't be embarrassed, I can assure you.[LNB]"If we do park the bus it will be because Rangers force us to, not because we are just going out there and dropping off.[LNB]"We will be trying to cope as best we can with good players - some of that will mean defending deep and in numbers."[LNB]However, McGhee believes his Fir Park tactics have been misrepresented.[LNB]"We played with a back three and two players, who have been playing at full-back all season, as wing-backs," he said.[LNB]"Andy Considine played over the halfway line for the whole of the second half. We played with wing backs but we just did not create enough playing that way."[LNB]And McGhee admits his side will have to get the first goal if they are to have a realistic chance of winning.[LNB]Aberdeen came from behind at Fir Park and also did the same in their 3-2 Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Raith Rovers on Wednesday.[LNB]But Rangers have stepped up a gear since taking that unexpected point in their opening Champions League game.[LNB]They thrashed Scottish Cup holders Dundee United 4-0 last weekend and followed that up with a 7-2 rout of Dunfermline in the cup.[LNB]McGhee said: "If Rangers get the first goal and you go chasing for the goal then you will be likely to get punished badly.[LNB]"We have got to try and get the first goal. But we have got to keep it as tight as we can for as long as we can."
