McGhee upbeat over Dons prospects

Manager Mark McGhee insists Aberdeen should not be judged until all his players are back from injury.

The Dons boss has been forced to operate with a depleted squad, which has perhaps contributed to a run of disappointing results in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

"I remain very optimistic about our chances this season," he said.

"I remain very upbeat despite the four results we have had recently.

"I still hold my breath for the day that we are all out there. I think only then can we really, truly judge the potential of this group."

Next up for Aberdeen is a visit to Inverness on Saturday, whose form on the road has been better than their performances at home so far - a situation McGhee says boss Terry Butcher will be keen to remedy.

"We know Terry and we know his mentality," McGhee said. "He will not be enjoying that.

"I saw them against Dundee United and they were absolutely brilliant. There was no fluke that day.

"The type of play they showed that day, their energy and their movement was top drawer. Their finishing was outstanding.

"That is the team I have seen play. I have not seen them play at home. I can tell you they were a good team that day and so therefore that is the team I am preparing to play."
