McGhee response convinced Dons board

Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne has revealed manager Mark McGhee convinced the board he could turn the tide at Pittodrie after re-examining every aspect of his current approach. Milne announced McGhee would continue in his role despite his team taking just four points from a possible 30 in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. Reports had claimed McGhee would lose his job if his team followed the 9-0 thrashing by Celtic with a home defeat against Inverness. But, after a 2-1 loss sparked two days of talks, McGhee persuaded the board to allow him more time. Milne told RedTV: "We have spent a lot of time with Mark over the last few days. There has been a lot of very honest and open discussion taken place. "Mark has gone away and thought about things and looked at every aspect of what we're doing. His response has convinced us we should be giving him more time to get things going again."
