McGhee content to wait on Velicka

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee insists he has no concerns about the fitness of Andrius Velicka in the season ahead.[LNB] The Rangers forward joined the Dons on loan on transfer deadline day, with Richard Foster heading in the other direction to Ibrox, and will no doubt feel as though he has a point to prove while at Pittodrie.[LNB]The Lithuanian - who returned from international duty this week with an ankle knock - has not played for the Scottish champions for well over a year and suffered a serious knee injury during his first game on loan at Bristol City last term.[LNB]"It's not a concern," said McGhee.[LNB]"He's got a little injury now, he's come back with an ankle injury, which is disappointing but he will be training by the middle of next week with the squad.[LNB]"As far as his longer term future, the rehab from his knee injury is well-advanced. Our medical team has spoken closely with theirs and we know the programme that he's on.[LNB]"We will watch him, we will monitor him but we don't really expect any other problems with the knee. All we do expect is that he's going to need brought back up to full speed.[LNB]"We've got a season ahead of us to do that and we will do it as quickly as we can but we will be scientific about it."[LNB]And McGhee hopes a successful season for Velicka will act as inspiration for Fraser Fyvie, who was last month ruled out for the season with cruciate ligament damage.[LNB]He said: "If he comes back and he plays in the team and he is successful for us and he is scoring goals, Fraser will see that and that will give Fraser great encouragement.[LNB]"The player himself is not a man of many words so as much as I'm sure he will give Fraser encouragement, it will be from his performances that Fraser will take encouragement from."[LNB]Velicka will not feature in Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League game against Dundee United but Nikola Vujadinovic could make his debut after the Dons received clearance for the on-loan Udinese defender's work permit.[LNB]McGhee said: "I didn't think for a minute we would have permission to use him this weekend.[LNB]"It looks like we have which has been brilliant work by the administrative department to push that through.[LNB]"He will be involved tomorrow, he won't start, but he will be at least on the bench."[LNB]Aberdeen head to Tannadice hoping to erase the memory of their last-gasp defeat to Kilmarnock, a result McGhee admits still has him reeling.[LNB]He said: "I'm still finding it hard to come to terms with the Kilmarnock result I must admit, it's still uppermost in my mind.[LNB]"In a sense it really spoiled the break that we've had.[LNB]"We want to try to put that right now and the best way to do that is with a great result in Dundee.[LNB]"We know that's easier said than done but we did it last year and we feel as though we are better than we were last year at this stage so fingers crossed."
