McGhee calls for ruthless display

Mark McGhee has told his players to go for the jugular against Raith Rovers and kill off any prospect of another cup shock early on. Aberdeen were sent crashing out of the Active Nation Scottish Cup by the Irn-Bru First Division side earlier this year, a result which McGhee described as the worst of his managerial career. Both teams prepare to do battle again in the third round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup and the Dons boss wants to see his side out of the traps quickly. "We've had them watched in the last two games at Ross County and Dundee and they've not been scored against," he said. "They have great work ethic, they are a well-organised team playing in a way where they make the best of what they have. "They are well balanced in that respect but we have to break that down, we have to start the game at a high tempo, not give them a rest physically or mentally, keep the pressure on them and try to make the first breakthrough. "If we can do that, I think we can make it a difficult night for Raith Rovers."
