McDonald looks to end year on high

The Dons, whose Boxing Day match against St Mirren fell victim to the wintry weather, have lost their last three games and McDonald is eager to end that streak with a win on Tuesday which would take the Dons up to fifth in the SPL.[LNB]He said: "The most important thing is to win the game and give the fans a result because they deserve it.[LNB]"We know the results in the past couple of games haven't been good enough in comparison to what we expect.[LNB]"We certainly want to give the fans three points on Tuesday."[LNB]However, the former Oldham and Kilmarnock player knows the Dons will have to be more clinical in front of goal if they are to beat the Bairns.[LNB]The Pittodrie side are the joint lowest scorers in the SPL with only 12 goals from 16 matches.[LNB]McDonald said: "It is frustrating for us that we aren't scoring as often as we would like but we would be more concerned if we weren't creating chances.[LNB]"We are creating opportunities for each other and I'm sure we have the players that will score goals.[LNB]"It is just a matter of persevering and working hard on your shooting during the week in training and trying to take that into a match."[LNB]The 27-year-old admits the challenge of ending the club's goal drought will be even tougher without suspended striker Lee Miller.[LNB]"We have to wait and see how big a miss Lee will be but obviously he is our main man, our number nine, and a lot of our play goes through him," he said.[LNB]"I would say he is one of the best strikers in the league at holding the ball up and bringing midfielders like myself into the game.[LNB]"But it is an opportunity for somebody else to come in and show what they can do. Hopefully whoever replaces him - whether that be one of the young boys, Darren Mackie or whoever - can step up to the mark."[LNB]Falkirk remained stuck at the foot of the table following Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Hearts but McDonald has warned his team-mates not to under-estimate Eddie May's side when they meet at Pittodrie on Tuesday evening.[LNB]He added: "I saw the highlights of their recent win against Kilmarnock and I thought they looked really strong, especially in the second half.[LNB]"They got the ball down and were passing it about really well. They gave us a really tough game down there when we drew 0-0 earlier this season so we expect the same when they come up here.[LNB]"However, it is certainly a home game that we will be wanting to take all three points from."[LNB][LNB]
