Lovell setback hits Dons

Tuesday Aug 15 2006 08:36

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood fears striker Steve Lovell could be facing a lengthy lay-off.

The 25-year-old sat out last weekend's 2-0 win at Motherwell because of a groin injury and will see a specialist this week to try and ascertain the full extent of the problem.

Calderwood told the Evening Express: "Steve is in a lot of pain and won't be fit for the St Mirren game [on Saturday].

"We don't really know how long he will be out at this stage."

The Dons are likely to be boosted by the return of Scott Severin at St Mirren, as his recovery from the knee injury that prevented him playing at Fir Park is progressing well.
