Jimmy annoyed by Hearts tactics

The result was a huge blow to the Dons' European hopes as they now trail the Jambos by five points and Dundee United by four points with only two games to go. The Aberdeen manager believes referee Stephen Finnie should have been stricter on the Tynecastle side, who managed to survive the final 26 minutes after Marius Zaliukas had been sent off for an off-the-ball kick at Chris Maguire. Calderwood said: "They came for a draw and were very stubborn. I think it was Craig Levein who was complaining about Hamilton time wasting after 30 minutes but I think it started after two minutes tonight. "They are taking the mickey out of the referee and you have to do something about it. Don't get me wrong, you can understand them doing that after the player got sent off but the referee has to do something about it. "The punters pay good money to watch the game and the time they wasted was unbelievable. If the referee steps in, and he only has to talk to them once or book them once, then it is all over." The Aberdeen manager also said his side merited the victory but came up against a side that were content to defend for a point. He added: "Hearts set up for a draw and all credit to them as they got it. I don't think I would like to watch every week how they got it. "The lad getting sent off didn't help them but we didn't have the quality on the night to get the victory that we deserved." Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo defended his side's tactics after the draw that brought them even closer to securing third place in the league. He said: "If you don't win the game then you look for excuses. If you win the game then you never have to explain. "It was an important game for Aberdeen because if they had won then they would have been closer to us. Maybe this felt like losing a game for Aberdeen. "But when in the 96 minutes did the referee tell them to play faster? Never. We didn't get punished or a yellow card. We played within the rules - except for Maurius Zaliukas." Laszlo added he would not be able to comment on the sending-off of Zaliukas until he had seen the incident for himself. He added: "I must watch the DVD of the game before I talk about it but I asked the referee and he told me it was for violent conduct. After I have watched it with Mauris then we can talk."
