Injury exasperates Diamond

Aberdeen defender Alexander Diamond has been forced to have an operation on his troublesome ankle injury which has plagued him for the last two years.

It is feared that the 24-year-old will not be ready for action until after Christmas but Diamond hopes the surgery will finally put an end to his problems.

He said: "I'm desperate for a solution. I need to find out exactly what the problem is and the specialist feels further surgery will solve it.

"I've not been able to train for seven or eight weeks because of the pain, which is always there.

"It's doing my head in because you always want to make a good impression on a new boss."
