Aberdeen have taken former Gretna left-back Evan . Horwood, who left Carlisle at the end of the season, had been training with Hartlepool and was due to fly out on their pre-season tour of Holland on Sunday. But the 24-year-old, who made 17 appearances for Gretna during their season in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, has accepted Aberdeen's trial invitation instead. Horwood was on loan at Gretna from Sheffield United and moved to Carlisle in January 2008 before being surprisingly released by the Cumbrian club after making 93 appearances. He joins former West Ham youth team midfielder Conor Okus on trial at Pittodrie but former Leeds goalkeeper Ryan Jones has returned to England.
