First goal boost for Wright

Aberdeen striker Tommy Wright is delighted to have finally netted his first goal for the SPL side following a tough first few months at Pittodrie.

The 24-year-old has only made nine appearances for the Dons since his arrival from Darlington, having been hampered by injury before scoring in the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over East Fife.

He told the Press & Journal: "I will get judged on goals like any other striker and people expect that. That is what I have come here to do and hopefully I will do that.

"The injury was a big setback for me and was hard to come back from, but I have done a lot of fitness work with the physios and I'm raring to go.

"I do feel I have to repay the manager and the coaches. They watched me in England and know what I can do and that I can score goals.

"I haven't shown what I have to offer but the more games I get and the more fitness I build up, the more confidence will begin to show."
