Aberdeen goalkeeper Ryan Esson has accepted reduced terms to stay with the Dons next season.
The 24-year-old has acted as back-up to David Preece in recent times and is happy to take a pay cut to remain at Pittodrie.
He told the Evening Express: "I want to stay and I'm willing to take a pay cut to make sure that happens.
"If you haven't played for the first team in nearly two years, you can't expect to be offered anything else than a wage reduction.
"I need to be pushing for a first-team place on a regular basis.
"After all the speculation, I feared I might be forced to leave Aberdeen, but the manager took me in at Christmas and told me I really needed to knuckle down.
"It has paid off for me because now I've been offered a new contract."
