Dons rue Nicholson blow

Aberdeen midfielder Barry Nicholson has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering a fractured collarbone.

The 28-year-old has been an integral part of the side that has taken the Dons to the fringes of the Champions League places this season, but will now not feature until the SPL has split into two halves.

"It's a massive blow for us at this stage of the season as Barry had been on a fine run of form," Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood told the club's official website.

"Fortunately, he is a quick healer so we certainly hope that it's not an end to his season, but the doctor told us he hadn't seen a break like the one Barry has in a long time so it's an unusual injury.

"He's been magnificent for us recently, so he will be a big miss."
