Dons hoping to sign Hendrie

Aberdeen are hoping to sign free agent former Aston Villa and Derby County midfielder Lee Hendrie.

The 33-year-old was released by the Rams at the end of the last Championship season and could become the fourth signing made by Dons boss Mark McGhee this summer.

Rory McArdle, Josh Magennis and Mark Howard have all arrived at Pittodrie in recent weeks.

"English midfielder Lee Hendrie has arrived in Aberdeen with a view to potentially signing for the Dons," read a statement on the club's official website.

"It is a chance for Lee to familiarise himself with the Dons and the area and chance for Mark and his coaching staff to have a look at the player."
