Dons eye Hodgkiss extension

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood is keen to try and extend defender Jared Hodgkiss' loan stay at Pittodrie until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has been hit by injury and illness since his move to the SPL club from West Bromwich Albion and has made only eight appearances for Calderwood's side.

However, the Dons boss still believes that Hodgkiss has a big part to play in the second half of the season.

He told the Press & Journal: "Jared has had a couple of injuries and he was unwell last week, so he has been a bit frustrated recently.

"His deal is up next week, but I will talk to West Brom manager Tony Mowbray on Monday.

"We would like him to stay, but we will see what happens."
