Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood claims a gut feeling persuaded him to recall goalkeeper Jamie Langfield for the goalless UEFA Cup draw with Dnipro.
The former Dons number one made his first appearance of the season in the opening leg of their first round tie at Pittodrie on Thursday night in place of Derek Soutar.
Langfield had been overlooked following a summer spat with Calderwood.
"I am not being patronising, I don't think Derek has done too bad at all. He made a great save against Dundee United," he said.
"It was just a gut feeling. We have got 10 goals against us.
"With all the injuries we have never had a settled back four and Jamie has fantastic presence and has fantastic deliveries from his kick-outs.
"We just decided to change it. It was a sore one for Derek and it was a difficult decision to make.
"Jamie didn't have too much to do but he has made one great save, while their keeper has made four."
