Dons duo could miss out

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood fears that Jamie Smith and Darren Mackie will not be fit enough to feature in Thursday's UEFA Cup clash with Panathinaikos.

Mackie is struggling with the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's 2-1 victory at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Calderwood fears the worst.

"Looking ahead to Thursday I think Severin should hopefully be OK," the Dons boss told the club's official website.

"Clark, Hart and Considine should also hopefully be OK, but Smith is a big doubt and Darren is also now a massive doubt.

"Severin got a kick in the hamstring and it really stiffened up. Darren, I think someone stood on his ankle and he twisted it.

"He was really struggling which is very sad for us because away from home in any game, especially a European one, because of his aggression and pace, he's a very important player for the team."
