Dons demand quick answers
23 Jan 2009 - 12:27:56
Aberdeen have told their out-of-contract players that now is the time to decide whether they want to remain at Pittodrie.
Captain Scott Severin, Jamie Smith, Darren Mackie, Lee Mair, Jeffrey de Visscher and Derek Young are all out of contract at the end of the season, and director of football Willie Miller believes most of the six players will eventually pledge their futures to the Dons.
He said: "The club has made what we feel are very reasonable offers. The ball's in their court now because the offers will not be increased.
"The negotiations are ongoing and, hopefully, we will have a clear picture in the next couple of weeks. They have to decide if they want to be part of things here or to go elsewhere.
"If they want to stay then great, if not, then we can start looking at other options for next season.
"It is hard to tell if the negotiations were positive until the deals are agreed but they know what Aberdeen are about and what we're trying to achieve here."
