Dons Appeal Pawlett Dismissal

Published: 20 Dec 2011 - 10:28:31

Aberdeen have appealed against the ridiculous red card shown to forward Peter Pawlett during the 1-0 win over Hibs.

The Dons confirmed on their official website that they had submitted an appeal to the Scottish Football Association after Pawlett was sent off for a sliding attempt to block a clearance by Lewis Stevenson.

Pawlett was shown a straight red card after Thomson consulted with his assistant, with a two-match ban the automatic suspension for serious foul play.

It is not known if Thomson will come under scrutiny after yet another appalling refereeing performance by an SPL official this season, but despite this succession of bumbling officiating threatening to bring the game into disrepute it would be a miracle if the governing bodies actually did anything about it.
