Dons ace sets Euro target

Aberdeen midfielder Barry Nicholson has urged his team-mates to make a success of their UEFA Cup campaign next season.

The Dons secured a spot in Europe with a final day 2-0 SPL win over Rangers on Sunday and Nicholson has set a target of reaching the group stages of the UEFA Cup next term.

"We want to keep things going and the manager, as well as the players, will not be pleased if we rest on this," he said.

"We want to go on a good run next season and get through the qualifier when we come to the European game in order to push on into the group stages.

"I think if the manager adds a couple of quality players then that can happen."

Aberdeen have already completed the free transfer signing of former Scotland international and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Jackie McNamara.
