Dons won't put blame on Buddies

The Scottish Premier League match at St Mirren Park was called off earlier on Saturday by Strathclyde Police amid fears for fans travelling to the game.[LNB]The Dons' official website claimed the club only became aware of the decision when the match officials arrived at the Paisley venue around noon.[LNB]Concerns were raised when heavy snow started to fall an hour earlier and the police took the decision to postpone the clash out of St Mirren's hands.[LNB]An Aberdeen spokesman said: "Obviously the weather conditions changed quite rapidly and Strathclyde Police felt they had no other alternative but to postpone the game.[LNB]"Unfortunately most of our fans had started on their journey by this time and we hope that they all make their way home safely.[LNB]"Obviously it is a big disappointment for everyone connected with Aberdeen Football Club but we have to go along with the decision."[LNB]The Scottish Premier League confirmed there were no problems with the playing surface but insisted the safety of supporters had to take priority.[LNB]An SPL spokesperson said: "The pitch was playable but police took the decision out of the club's hands given the weather conditions for fans travelling to and from the game.[LNB]"The safety of supporters is paramount."[LNB]A date for the rescheduled fixture has yet to be decided.[LNB][LNB]
