Jimmy Calderwood's departure at the end of the season has seen several names linked with the Pittodrie vacancy. Current SPL bosses Mark McGhee, Craig Levein and John Hughes have been mooted as contenders, while former Dons players Lee Richardson and Noel Whelan have applied for the position. Miller did not reveal any of the potential candidates for the job, but confirmed the new manager's target will be to qualify for the group stage of the Europa League. "Our target for the new season and new manager is to reach the group stages of the Europa League," said Miller in the Daily Record. "We have taken a step closer to that goal without kicking a ball thanks to Rangers. Their Scottish Cup win ensures we enter the Europa League qualifiers at the third round. "This has given us another two weeks to get prepared for the return to Europe as we will start our campaign on July 30 before the SPL season starts. "But this does not mean we will slow down our search for a new manager. We will continue to work tirelessly to get him in place as soon as possible. "In the early days of this week we will be in a position to make a decision."
