Dons start with Saints test

Aberdeen will kick-off their 2011/12 Scottish Premier League season at home to St Johnstone.[LNB] Craig Brown's Dons will launch the campaign on July 23 before a trip to St Mirren the following week.[LNB]They take on Neil Lennon's Celtic at Pittodrie on Saturday, August 6.[LNB]Aberdeen face Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, August 27 and play Ally McCoist's side twice more, at Pittodrie (October 29) and in Glasgow again on January 21.[LNB]Celtic play host to the Dons on October 22, with a third clash against the Bhoys lined up for March 3 at Pittodrie.[LNB]Aberdeen chief executive Duncan Fraser declared the Dons largely happy with the fixtures.[LNB]He said: "I think we have to be pleased with the fact that, for the vast majority of the season, we are home and away on alternate matches."[LNB]But Fraser revealed the club will seek a change of date for their festive fixture at Inverness, which is set to take place on December 24.[LNB]He added: "All clubs have been allocated a fixture on Christmas Eve - in our case a trip to Inverness.[LNB]"The SPL I know will look to work with clubs that may seek to bring that game forward and that is something we will try to do nearer the time.[LNB]"I'm sure many of our supporters will baulk at the thought of a game on a day that is traditionally a time for families to be together."
