Diamond boost for Dons

Aberdeen defender Alexander Diamond has ended speculation of a move away from Pittodrie by putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Diamond, 22, has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal after being linked with a move to several clubs, including Wolves and Leicester City, when his existing deal ran out in the summer.

He told the club's official website: "I am very happy here. There was interest from other clubs but Aberdeen have stood by me over the last 18 months when I had a loss of form and was injured."

Aberdeen have recently qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Cup and Diamond cited the desire to experience more success with the Dons as his main reason for staying.
