Daly confident of cup success

Daly scored both goals for the Arabs against Aberdeen on Saturday as they netted for the ninth time in four games with a 2-2 SPL draw at Pittodrie.[LNB]The Irishman believes his team possess enough attacking options to cause the Ibrox side problems when they meet for a place in the last four of the competition this week.[LNB]He said: "I think the team has been scoring quite freely all season, no matter who has been playing up front. The manager has good options up front and all over the park. There is good strength in depth in the squad. It is a big game on Wednesday so hopefully we can make it to the semi-final.[LNB]"I don't see why we can't win. At Ibrox we were 3-1 down and everybody had ruled us out but we came back to 3-3, which I don't think anybody expected us to do. We showed great character and strength of mind to come back like that. It is a one-off game and I don't see why we can't do it."[LNB]However, Daly was frustrated his side dropped two precious points in the race to finish third by squandering a two-goal lead against Mark McGhee's men.[LNB]He added: "We missed a couple of chances at 2-0 and we shot ourselves in the foot defensively with two bad mistakes that gifted Aberdeen two goals. We know we have to do better.[LNB]"We have been 3-1 up at Kilmarnock but gone on to draw the game and we have given a lead away again. It is definitely a case of two points dropped."[LNB]Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee praised midfielder Stuart Duff for his inspiring performance in helping the Dons gain a point against United.[LNB]Zander Diamond and Michael Paton scored the goals that earned the Reds a point but it was the battling display by Duff that caught McGhee's eye.[LNB]The former United player has rarely featured since McGhee came to Pittodrie and was making his first start since spending a month on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.[LNB]McGhee said: "Stuart Duff has been out on loan and out of the side. Clearly he has not played because I have had doubts about his ability to play in the team, particularly in a midfield two. He has played in a three against Dundee United and he was absolutely fantastic.[LNB]"I'm absolutely delighted he has proven me wrong. I have no problem with that. He has been a brilliant trainer and when it has all been going wrong recently he has been the one trying to drag people along and that was why he played.[LNB]"I couldn't ignore him any longer as his attitude has been absolutely fantastic. I was the one, in a sense, who was abusing him by not playing him so he deserves a huge amount of credit."[LNB][LNB]
