Former Feyenoord defender Pieter Collen is hoping to win a contract at Aberdeen after joining the club for a week's trial. The 28-year-old Belgian, who can play right-back or centre-back, has trained with the squad for the past two days. Collen, who has Champions League experience with the Dutch club, is available on a free transfer at the end of the season. He is on a three-month contract at Dutch second division club SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden, where he plays alongside former Dons winger Jeffrey de Visscher and former Hearts striker Mark de Vries. Collen told RedTV: "Everything is going smoothly. It's a good group and they are all nice to me, at the moment. "The stadium looks like, when there's a crowd in, it could be a really good atmosphere. "That's the most important thing in football because it gives you a good boost. "I know football in Scotland and England and the way they play is a little bit harder and quicker but I like it like that. "I had two training sessions and I like the way we're playing."
