Calderwood: Dons under no pressure

The pressure has been temporarily lifted from the Dons after they secured a top-six finish by defeating Inverness last weekend. And Calderwood says the onus will be on the Hoops to win when the sides meet at Celtic Park. "We have nothing to lose as everybody will be expecting Celtic to win," he said. "That will be a lovely change to the past few weeks where the pressure was really on us to get results. "We went to Hibernian and Motherwell under very difficult circumstances after the defeat to Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup. "We then had a very difficult game against Inverness who are fighting for their lives but we came through these challenges. "However I don't think I have ever been involved in a game with Aberdeen without pressure. "But we are going there with a positive attitude and looking to win the match." Gordon Strachan's side have scored 15 times in their last three matches at Celtic Park but goals may be slightly harder to come by against a mean Aberdeen defence. The Dons have conceded fewer goals at home than Rangers this season and the same number away as Celtic. Calderwood believes a lot of the credit for their impressive defensive displays lies with goalkeeper Jamie Langfield, who kept his 13th clean sheet of the season in the Scottish Premier League against Inverness last weekend. "This has been Jamie's most consistent season to date," said Calderwood. "He has taken his game to another level. We always knew he could do that, it was just about him sorting his head out and believing in himself. "He has been absolutely wonderful this season but these clean sheets aren't just because of Jamie. "It is the way the whole team defends as a unit. Perhaps over the course of the season we could have been a bit more creative but our defending has been very good. However, it will be a stiff test for them on Saturday against Celtic." Calderwood, who will be without strikers Darren Mackie and Lee Miller through injury and suspension, respectively, is expecting another pulsating encounter against Celtic. A Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink strike in injury-time gave the Hoops a dramatic 3-2 win at Celtic Park when the sides met for the first time this season back in September. However the Dons got their revenge on Strachan's men with a 4-2 win in January and Calderwood said he would not be surprised if the sides served up another classic. He added: "It was a great game back in September and I felt we should have gone on to win that one having been 2-1 ahead. "Hopefully we can get the result this time. It is the chance for us to play against a very good team in a wonderful arena and I think the lads are all really looking forward to it."
