Byrne vows to do better

Aberdeen's Irish defender Richie Byrne was delighted to record his first goal for the Dons as they ended the season with a 2-0 win at home to Hearts.

The 23-year-old moved to Pittodrie from Dunfermline Athletic in January, but has taken his time adjusting to his new surroundings.

Byrne said: "It was probably my best performance of the season and I was happy with it.

"I am starting to show what I can do, so hopefully next season I will be able to carry that through and get off to a good start.

"Things can only get better, the manager is looking for a couple of players who can strengthen the squad."
