Byrne set for Dons deal

Aberdeen are on the verge of completing the signing of Dunfermline Athletic full-back Richie Byrne.

The Dons' initial offer for the 23-year-old was rejected at the start of the week, but Dunfermline eventually accepted an improved £40,000 bid.

Pars manager Davie Hay confirmed: "We are not too far away on the Richie Byrne deal and it looks like that will happen."

Byrne joined Dunfemline from Shamrock Rovers in August 2003 and has since played 19 SPL matches.
