Brown Prepares Aberdeen FC Fans For Quiet Summer

Dons boss Craig Brown has attempted to calm any AFC supporters who are expecting a big summer of transfers at Pittodrie.

At the unveiling of new signing Jonny Hayes, Brown was at pains to tell fans that he already has a "very good squad" in place.Plus he reminded supporters that four players returning from injury, four U19s coming through, and two players returning from loan spells will be like having 10 new players.AFC fans group Dons Supporters Together have initiated a campaign to get Dons fans to buy season tickets so the club feels minimal adverse financial impact from its correct decision to vote 'no' to a Rangers newco. But it may be that Brown believes that transfer activity will be minimal as the club prepares for life after one half of the Old Firm's demise. He told RedWeb: "[Hayes] is the first one and we may get another couple of players but even if we don't I think we have a good enough squad to start the season.

"In fact we have a very good squad, better than last year now as we have Milsom and Osbourne and Pawlett all back fit. Russell Anderson will be fit.

"We have a pretty good squad when you also add the four boys who played from the U19s at the end of the season. You add Mason, you add Smith, McManus and Ryan Fraser.

"So you you have four additional players plus the two Forfar boys - Nicky Low and Joe Shaughnessy. So there has been a refreshing change to the squad.

"Jonny Hayes will give us a new dimension, something that was lacking. Now we can add to that if possible but without adding to it I still think we can be much stronger than last season."
