Boss bemoans incentive for Gers

The Dons are in confident mood after recording their sixth consecutive home win with a 4-2 victory over the SPL leaders on Sunday.[LNB]However, that result means Rangers can climb to the top of the table if they win at Pittodrie and put some added pressure on their Glasgow rivals before they take on Hibernian later in the day.[LNB]Calderwood concedes his side may have given themselves an ever tougher task by giving Rangers that extra incentive.[LNB]"In a strange way we have probably made it more difficult for ourselves by beating Celtic and giving Rangers a chance of going top of the league if they win," the Aberdeen manager said.[LNB]"On the other side, if we win the game we will go four points clear of Dundee United and Hearts before they play on Saturday. They both have home games that on paper they would expect to win but if we beat Rangers it would put them under a bit more pressure."[LNB]The Dons boss, still beaming with pride after last week's victory over Celtic, said his side will have to perform to the same high standard if they want to taste more success against the Old Firm.[LNB]"I thought last week was a great advertisement for Scottish football," Calderwood said. "The great thing for us was Gordon Strachan thought his team did well so we have beaten a Celtic team that were on form rather than one that had a bad day at the office. We know it is going to be just as hard against Rangers but we are looking forward to it."[LNB]The Aberdeen boss praised the character his side has shown to bounce back from a dismal set of results early on in the season which culminated in them being bottom of the league for a short spell in October.[LNB]Calderwood added: "It's testament to the hard work that the lads have done. A few months ago we were bottom of the league but they have came back from that setback and got us into third position.[LNB]"Even when we had that poor start, nobody really hammered us. We have always given ourselves a chance to win games this season, even against the Old Firm.[LNB]"The most important thing is we have stopped making the individual errors that were costing us so dearly at the start of the season."[LNB]The Dons boss also hinted that new recruit Javan Vidal, on loan from Manchester City, could be given a baptism of fire by making his debut against Rangers this weekend.[LNB]"Javan is a very good player," Calderwood said. "He is a fabulous lad who is hungry to do well. He is very quick and absolutely desperate to play. He will certainly be in the squad this weekend."[LNB][LNB]
