Aberdeen skipper Russell Anderson has apologised to Zander Diamond for his part in the youngster's red card in the 3-0 defeat at Rangers.
Diamond was dismissed for a foul on Shota Arveladze ten minutes into the second half at Ibrox, after Anderson's pass had played his fellow defender into trouble.
Afterwards, Anderson told the Press & Journal: "I feel really bad for Zander. The ball could have been cleared twice. I was at fault for one of them and I take full responsibility.
"Zander was doing magnificently up to that point and it was only his third game for the first team. He was handling the occasion very well.
"I thought we could have got back to the Rangers player, but these things can go against you. They even themselves up over the course of a season.
"The whole pattern of the game changed with the sending-off."
