Aberdeen's Ryan Fraser Scoops SPL Award

Young Dons sensation Ryan Fraser has won the Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month prize for September.

Winger Fraser has terrorised defences up and down the country since his introduction to the Aberdeen starting line-up.

The Aberdonian was only given a start due to Niall McGinn's early-season injury, but he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and hasn't looked back.

The 18-year-old has become a target of the league's hatchet men in recent months, causing Dons boss Craig Brown to repeatedly issue pleas for referees to protect the skillful kid from serious injury.

Referees have already issued eight bookings and a red card this term for fouls against Fraser, who has been lucky to avoid being hospitalised by horror tackles from Alan Maybury and Richie Foran.

The Scotland Under-19 international was overlooked for an Under-21 call-up this week, but if he carried on playing in the way that earned this month's SPL Young Player gong, he can't be far from stepping up to that level.
