Peter Pawlett promises to give his all for Aberdeen ahead of MK Dons move

Aberdeen midfielder Peter Pawlett has promised he will put everything into his final three months with the club, starting with Saturday's visit of Motherwell.

The 26-year-old has signed a pre-contract agreement with Sky Bet League One side MK Dons after being persuaded to move south by former Hearts boss Robbie Neilson.

"I have played over 200 games now," he said. "I have been here through the good and the bad times. The up and downs. I hope people think that I have been a good servant.

"The news broke yesterday (Thursday) before everything was confirmed. Everything on social media from the fans since then has been very positive towards me - I really really appreciate that.

"There is still so much to play for this season. I hope I can be a part of it because I will still give my all for the club. We have a chance to finish in second spot and the chance to get to a Scottish Cup final. What a way that would be to finish my time at Aberdeen.

"The squad has done a lot of hard work to get us into this position as we head into the final part of the season. We just have to focus on what is ahead of us, starting with the game against Motherwell on Saturday."

Aberdeen skipper Ryan Jack (ankle) is back in contention for the game, but defenders Mark Reynolds (hernia) and Andy Considine (suspension) will miss out.

Motherwell striker Scott McDonald is determined to give caretaker manager Stephen Robinson every chance of staying in the job long term.

The Lanarkshire club are expected to announce a new boss next week with Robinson understood to be on a five-man shortlist.

Robinson was assistant to Ian Baraclough and then Mark McGhee before leaving to become Oldham manager last summer. He returned to the club last month as first-team coach.

McDonald said: "We know what Robbo is all about, the majority of us do anyway. It has always been a joy to work under him and work with him.

"As players, all we are concerning ourselves about is to do our best and do our job, and if we do that we give Steve every possible chance of maybe taking the reins, which I think most boys would be more than happy with."

McGhee was sacked after Motherwell conceded 17 goals in four matches but McDonald admitted he was shocked to see him lose his job. However, he feels the players showed they would not let their disappointment linger as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Kilmarnock last weekend.

"I have never seen a changing room so disappointed when a manager leaves a football club," the former Celtic, Middlesbrough and Millwall forward said. "Usually you have quite a few players in there giving it the old first-pump saying 'Thank God he's gone'.

"But I can categorically tell you that wasn't the case at our club this time. Everyone was fully behind Mark, albeit results might not have shown that. He certainly didn't lose the support of the changing room."

Motherwell could have up to six players missing from their defence for the trip to Pittodrie with Zak Jules, Carl McHugh and Ben Heneghan all doubtful and Stephen McManus, Richard Tait and Kieran Kennedy out. They are also missing suspended striker Louis Moult.
