Derek McInnes wants even more from players as Aberdeen target second place
Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes admits he is greedy for more as his side look to move three points clear in the race for second with victory over Motherwell.
Dons can put daylight between themselves and Rangers in the Ladbrokes Premiership if they win at home on Wednesday night.
McInnes' men are level on 43 points with the Ibrox outfit but have a vastly superior goal difference and have played a game less.
Now, after a run of seven wins from their last eight games, the Pittodrie side can take a firm lead when they play their match in hand against Mark McGhee's side.
McInnes said: "We're keen to keep the run going after seven wins from our last eight games.
"The 1-0 defeat at Celtic apart, we've been very strong but I still want us to have more.
"I want even better performances but if results keep coming the way they are I'll be delighted."
Aberdeen will be without the suspended Graeme Shinnie after the midfielder picked up his sixth booking of the Premiership season against Dundee last month and must now serve a one-match ban.
McInnes is also monitoring knocks suffered by Mark Reynolds and Niall McGinn and says he may consider refreshing his starting line-up.
Carl McHugh and Scott McDonald are suspended for Motherwell.
Midfielder McHugh was handed a two-match ban after being sent off against Hearts last time out while striker McDonald is serving the second of a two-game suspension after failing an appeal against his dismissal against Rangers.
Ross MacLean is out for the season after being told he needs shoulder surgery while Kieran Kennedy (hip) remains on the sidelines.
Well will move from eighth into sixth place with a draw against the Dons in a fixture that had to be rearranged after the floodlights failed at Pittodrie in December with the match only minutes old.
McGhee said: "If we don't get beat (on Wednesday night), we are back in the top six.
"That is the way we have to approach it, incrementally - just chip away at it and try to get in there before the split.
"I think we are good enough to go on a run and there will be one or two others also good enough.
"We have to make sure we don't get left behind."
