Aberdeen midfielder James Maddison eager to make an impact in Scotland
James Maddison is confident he can make an impact in Scotland as he prepares to make his Aberdeen debut against Inverness.
The 19-year-old joined the Dons on loan after moving to Norwich in the summer following a B#2.5million transfer from Coventry earlier in the year.
The creative midfielder was not content to quietly integrate with the reserves, and jumped at the chance to try something new in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
"I had a full pre-season at Norwich, I had a really good pre-season to be honest, I felt I was playing really well but I am only a young lad, still only 19, so it was always going to be hard to get ahead of the likes of Steven Naismith and Wes Hoolahan," he told RedTV.
"I spoke to Alex Neil and said I wanted to go and play games so I was delighted to hear of the interest from Aberdeen and was buzzing to get up here.
"I have come here to play some games and show everyone what I can do.
"I am a confident young boy but you have to be, coming up here and living on my own. You have to trust your own ability.
"I am confident I can adapt to the football up here. I believe in myself but now I need to get my head down, work hard and put in the performances."
Inverness manager Richie Foran, meanwhile, has promised to send his team out to attack as the bottom club prepare to face last season's top two teams.
Caley Thistle travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen on Saturday before hosting champions Celtic the following weekend.
Foran's side ended a run of four consecutive defeats when they beat St Johnstone before the international break and the Irishman wants to build on those first points of the season rather than sitting in and hoping for the best.
Foran said: "We're going there to try and win a game of football. We won't be sitting back, we'll be playing the way we have been playing. I want to see us attack.
"We approach it like every game. We are going to try and win every game of football.
"I don't want to sit back and wait for other teams and see what they do. I want to go and attack from the start."
However, Foran is keen to tighten up at the back after only taking one clean sheet in nine matches this season, against Arbroath in the Betfred Cup.
"I'm also looking for a clean sheet," he said. "We need to get a clean sheet sooner rather than later. I've been working hard with the back four so it will be a real positive if we can get that clean sheet on Saturday."
