Aberdeen have lodged a planning application for a new stadium with the city council. The blueprint for the 21,000-capacity stadium at Loirston Loch, which will be lit by a red glow at night, has been submitted following public consultation. Aberdeen chief executive Duncan Fraser said: "After much hard work and consultation, we are delighted to submit a planning application for a stadium that will inspire our fans and the wider community and be a major new attraction for Aberdeen city and shire." He added: "Loirston Loch was identified as the optimum site for this major regional facility and our goal is to deliver a stadium that will make our supporters proud. "The exciting design will create a modern, atmospheric stadium that offers the ultimate match-day experience and signifies the clear ambitions of the club."
