Aberdeen Lodge Paton Appeal
The club appeals to the SFA to overturn ridiculous red card. ABERDEEN has lodged an appeal with the SFA to overturn the red card given to Michael Paton on Saturday. The striker, coming on for his first SPL appearance of the season, was sent off for what can only be described as doing nothing in the game against Inverness Caley Thistle. Paton was dismissed thanks to very poor refereeing and an unsportsmanlike reaction from ICT player Johnny Hayes, who scored the home side's opening goal with a fluke, and AFC have now issued an appeal to get the card overturned. Aberdeen will be hoping for a sensible decision from the SFA, which is, of course, by no means certain. A message on the Aberdeen website says: "The Club has confirmed it has appealed to the SFA against the red card given to Michael Paton during the 2-0 defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle in the Highland capital at the weekend. "The 21 year old was sent off for violent conduct following a challenge with the home side's Johnny Hayes, thirteen minutes after coming on as a substitute in his first top team appearance of the season."
