Aberdeen FC's 'Future At Risk'

Dons chairman Stewart Milne and vice-chairman George Yule both believe that AFC's full-time status is under threat if councillors reject plans for a sports complex in Cove.

The community sports complex at Calder Park would double as training facilities for the Dons once the club moves to a new stadium at Loirston Loch.

Milne has written to every city councillor ahead of discussions about the Calder Park project today, saying plans for the football club's new 21,000-seater stadium would be killed off if the Cove plans were rejected - see post 16 here for the full letter.

And Yule has accused Labour leader Mr Crockett and finance convener Mr Young of playing politics with the club’s future.

Yule added that the scrapping of AFC’s Loirston Loch plans would put the club’s ability to continue as a full-time club under threat.

Aberdeen hope to move to the new stadium on the outskirts of the city for the start of the 2014/15 season.Follow the discussion about the councillors' meeting on the Stand Free forum: click here
